Take a Drive on the Rural Side
The Vineyard and Valley Scenic Tour Route is a 60-mile drive through the lush Tualatin Valley, which runs between the city of Sherwood at the southern part of the valley and the Swiss-settled Helvetia at the northern end. Part of the Oregon Scenic Byways and Tour Routes program, this rural driving route showcases much of Washington County’s agricultural bounty, including wineries, farms (some with stands offering seasonal fresh produce and/or u-pick), historic sites, wildlife refuges and scenic viewpoints of the Cascade Mountains, including the iconic, snow-capped Mt. Hood.
- Because portions include narrow county roads, low bridge overpasses and winding roads, the full route is not recommended for tour buses or bicyclists.
- Please obey all posted speed limits, traffic signs and signals.
- Share the road with farm equipment, horses and cyclists.
For more information about the rules of the road while driving through rural communities, please read this information from the Oregon Department of Motor Vehicles (PDF).
