Thanksgiving Wine Weekend

Celebrate Thanksgiving in Oregon's Washington County Wine Country

After the turkey, cranberry sauce and pumpkin pie have been eaten, and the early-morning Black Friday sales have been conquered, what's left of a Thanksgiving weekend being spent in the Pacific Northwest? Why not add a new tradition to your destination Thanksgiving: wine tasting!

The following are this year's participating wineries  for this year's 30th Annual Wine Country Thanksgiving, November 28-30 (most wineries open Friday-Sunday, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.):

A Blooming Hill Vineyard & Winery (Tasting fee: $8): Taste all estate wines, including its award-winning 2011 Pinot Noir and 2012 Pinot Noir. Tastings accompanied by small bites and chocolate

Alloro Vineyard (Tasting fee:$10/$25): Current release wine tasting, charcuteries ($10 per person); pre-release reserve 2013 Pinot tasting ($25 per person)

Apolloni Vineyards (Tasting fee: $10-15): Barrel taste Estate Pinot, Italian-style stainless whites, warm reds and bubbles in the wine cave while shopping the holiday marketplace, showcasing local artisans

Ardiri Winery & Vineyards (Tasting fee: $10): Chocolate pairings and wine tastings

Beckham Estate Vineyard (Tasting fee: $10): Wine tastings of handcrafted, limited production, estate-grown wines, including news releases paired with local bites

Blakeslee Vineyard Estate (Tasting fee: $15): Tastings of award-winning Pinot Noir, Rose, Riesling and Chardonnay, paired with s'mores by the patio's fire pit.

Cooper Mountain Vineyards (Tasting fee: $10/$20; includes logo glass) Taste new releases of organic and biodynamic wines while listening to live music and enjoying tasty appetizers

David Hill Vineyards & Winery (Tasting fee: $10): Wine tasting at one of Oregon's oldest vineyards, including chardonnay, Riesling, Gewürztraminer, Pinot noir, Tempranillo, Merlot and two Port wines in the historic farmhouse

Dion Vineyard (Tasting fee: $15): Previews of Dion's new tasting room, now under construction, and tastings, including new releases and library wines (not open Sunday)

Elk Cove Vineyards (Tasting fees vary): Wine tasting of 2013 Pinot Gris and the 2012 "Mt. Richmond" Pinot Noir at Wine & Spirits Magazine's "Winery of the Year"

Et Fille Wines (Tasting fee: $10): Wine tastings of current and new release wines in a heated tent outside the winemaker's home overlooking the Washington County vineyard

Freja Cellars (Tasting fee:$10, includes logo glass): Artisanal wine tastings with the winemaker paired with cheeses, and chocolates in Freja's new tasting room

J. Albin Winery (Tasting fee: $10): Pinot Noir, Pinot Gris and Cabernet Sauvignon wine and sparkling wine tastings paired with small bites and local art

Kramer Vineyards (Tasting fee: $10 or $20 with Pinot glass): Wine tastings, including reserve Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Müller Thurgau

Montinore Estate (Tasting fee: $15, includes logo glass): Preview of the 2012 single-vineyard Pinot Noir and white wine new releases paired with Indian-spiced popcorn

Oak Knoll Winery: Wine tastings paired with live music and food

Patton Valley Vineyard (Tasting fee: $10, includes logo glass): Five-wine flight of small production wines, featuring a special pour of Patton Valley's 2012 Clone 777 estate Pinot Noir, paired with small bites

Ponzi Vineyards' Historic Estate (Tasting fee: $15): Tastings of Riesling and holiday favorite wines, plus tableside seating

Ponzi Vineyards Winery (Tasting fee: $15): Ponzi wines tastings, including single-vineyard Chardonnay, paired with cheeses from Briar Rose Creamery and new seasonal plates

SakéOne (Tasting fee: $10): Tasting flights of family saké highlighting the very best sakés from Japan
